100g unsalted butter, at room temperature
100g caster sugar
1 medium egg
275g plain flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
400g icing sugar
3-4 tbsp water
2-3 drops food colourings of your choice
Preheat the oven to 190°C/375°F/Gas 5.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until combined.
In a separate bowl beat together the egg and vanilla extract and add to the butter and sugar mixture gradually until thoroughly combined.
Stir in the flour until the mixture comes together as dough.
Lightly flour a work surface and roll the dough out to a thickness of around 1cm.
Using your cookie cutters of choice, cut biscuits out of the dough and place on to a baking tray, making sure you line the tray with greaseproof paper.
Bake the biscuits in the oven for around 10 minutes or until golden brown in colour.
Once cooled, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
To make the icing sugar, in a large bowl sift the icing sugar and stir in enough water, bit by bit to create a smooth mixture.
Add a few drops of food colouring to the mixture and stir, add a few more drops of colouring to reach your desired colour.
Spoon the icing mixture in to your icing gun and create a range of patterns with our variety of nozzles.
