Welcoming baby to the world

I am a complete sucker for a happy ending and Kate and Wills expecting their second baby is just the cherry on the cake in my eyes.

I love the thought of Kate and all her friends, including the Queen, Obviously, getting together for copious amounts of cake and tea and cooing over beautiful little booties and bonnets.

Ok so I might be getting a little over excited but baby showers are so much fun and a great opportunity to see all your besties before you are too exhausted to pick up the phone let alone arrange a night out! So here is my guide to throwing a baby shower fit for royalty.

A show stopping cake is the best way to create the party feel and doesn’t need to cost the earth or be complicated to make. A simple iced sponge decorated with Sweetly Does It Baby Flag Cake Toppers and Bunting along with a few fondant decorations made using Sweetly Does It Baby Silicone Fondant Mould will give you a professional look for half the price!

Plenty of sweet treats will definitely be the order of the day and nothing beats a selection of beautifully decorated cupcakes, add a few cake toppers and some edible glitter to give your cupcakes the wow factor. Cookies are always popular and I like to get my guests to decorate their own cookies using edible marker pens, it is guaranteed to cause a few giggles.

If you are planning to reveal the gender of your baby at your shower a fun and different way you can make the announcement is to bake some yummy cake pops with either pink or blue sponge, cover in candy melt or chocolate and leave to set. Hand them round at the shower and ask all guests to bite into them at the same time to reveal the big surprise. Find my basic cake pop recipe here.

There is only so much tea you can drink in one afternoon so if you fancy offering your guests something a little different try grapefruit cordial, believe me it is wonderfully refreshing. Serve in miniature bottles with coordinating straws for a really cute look. Find my recipe here.

Don’t forget all the little things that make the day truly memorable, from the cutest of invites to the decorative bunting and my personal favourite, as many pom poms as you can fit into the room!

Have a fantastic baby shower, you deserve it!
