What's in Season!

Your seasonal guide to which fruits and vegetables are ripe for the picking each month. This April make the most of all that spring has to offer!

Eating seasonally, when produce is packed full of flavour, is without a doubt the best way for you to enjoy food at its best. Each month we will be highlighting what’s in season and also share one of our favourite recipes using some of these great ingredients. We hope that it’ll inspire you to get in the kitchen, start cooking and ultimately support great British food.

 

As spring (very slowly) creeps up on us produce will soon start to sprout to life with spring greens eager to make an appearance in your salads, soups and sauces! April’s seasonal ingredients don’t stick around for long so make the most of them whilst they last! Get picking peppery flavoured watercress and rocket which not only taste wonderful but contain an abundance of essential vitamins and antioxidants. Have a cracking good time with crabs and go wild for seasonal morels, a real spring time pleasure which taste great in pasta or sautéed with a steak.

 

What's in season?

 

Vegetables: Radishes, Rocket, Spinach, Watercress, Wild Garlic, Morel, Spring Onion

 

Fruit: Rhubarb, Kiwi Fruit

 

Herbs: Basil, Sorrel, Chives

 

Fish and shellfish: Crab, Sardine, Sea Trout

 

Meat and Game: Lamb, Wood Pigeon

 

This month’s recipe: Crab soufflé with radish, baby spinach and rocket salad
