Winter Warmer Drinks

There is nothing better to chase away the chill on a winter night than a hot drink. Whether you want sugary sweet, aromatic and spicy or something for the grown ups there is always a drink to turn too.

After some exhaustive taste testing here is our top four!

Mulled Wine

A winter warming classic! Red wine with an aromatic blend of Christmassy spice and a dash of brandy to heat things up.

Hot Chocolate

You just can’t beat a “real” hot chocolate! Especially when they are so easy to make. Simply heat your milk in a sauce pan over a medium high heat. Once it begins to simmer, remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly for a minute. Add 20g of chocolate to each mug, pour in the milk and stir until the chocolate melts. Top off with whipped cream, mini marshmallows and a dusting of cocoa powder and enjoy!

Mulled Cider

A fruity twist on the classic mulled wine blending dry cider (or fresh apple juice) with apples, cloves, cinnamon, star anise, allspice and orange zest. Stud and apple with cloves and place in a large pan with all of  the other ingredients and gently simmer for 30 minutes, remembering to stir frequently. Then ladle it up, sit back and enjoy.

Gingerbread Latte

A festive favourite that’s creamy and sweet with that little kick of warming ginger. Fill a tall latte glass with steamed milk then pour in a dash of ginger flavoured syrup, a shot of espresso and top off with whipped cream. For an extra festive flourish add a dusting of ground nutmeg and ground cinnamon.
