An essential item in cooking and promoting a healthy diet and lifestyle, the Kitchen Craft Universal Steamer is a beautifully designed piece of cookware. Steaming helps retain vitamins, minerals, flavour, colour, and texture in food, often lost when boiling. The universal steamer's graduated base instantly converts a variety of traditional sized (16cm, 18cm, 20cm) saucepans and casseroles into a steamer. Featuring a vented glass lid, wide riveted side handles, and high quality mirror polished stainless steel interior and exterior, the steamer is an easy and simple item to use in everyday cooking.

I bought this recently from the County Cookshop in Cranbrook, Kent. It is ideal as a steamer and would easily desrve 5 stars. However because of its lid I have only awarded 3 stars. The lid has an all-metal handle/knob and this is not insulated so it gets unbearably hot. many people can manage this problem by using an oven glove. For my wife and me (and doubtless many others) this is not possible because we both have chronic arthritis and gripping a small knob with an insulating glove is not possible. We therefore use the lid from one of our saucepans which has a plastic knob and is much safer because it acts as an insulator.
I suggest that the metal knob be replaced so that the lid becomes hazzard-free.
The stemer itself is an excellent addition to our kitchen collection. We particularly like the fact that it will fit a number of different sized pans.

Hi Roy,

Thanks for your review. That is a great suggestion and something we'll pass onto our design team right away, in the meantime it's great that you've found a way round it by using another lid and hopefully it hasn't caused you too much trouble!
